Moving Forward Monday - A Rough Excerpt from Ravensrealm
The last of the flames died away, and Alethea stared at her handiwork, impressed. At her feet rested a large pile of ashes, one of five from the latest Draugr attack on Thorsville. She grinned then glanced around for her best friend.
Jordan stood not too far from her, blood splattered on his leather armor. There were some new nicks and cuts into the material, and Alethea cringed to see them. His armor was just one more thing they could not afford to replace, not yet at least, but they were working towards that and a few other upgrades as well. Unfortunately, they were a few battles away from having enough for the in-game merchants.
Still, Jordan grinned at her, the flat of his sword resting on his shoulders. The decapitated bodies of three Draugr lay at his feet. A light breeze picked up, tossing his golden blond hair into his eyes. He nudged the closest one with a foot.
“I think you missed some,” he said with a wink.
“But you were having so much fun with them,” Alethea deadpanned, grinning back at him. “I didn’t want to take away your new playmates.”
“Oh, ha ha,” Jordan said, actually laughing. “This was kind of fun today, don’t you think?”
“I guess,” she replied. “Move them closer together so I can use a fire charm.”
“No more casting?” he asked.
She tilted her head. Oddly enough, her “reserves” for magic remained intact, according to her digital readout in the corner of her eye. Alethea shook her head.
“No more casting,” she confirmed. “I can, oddly enough, but it doesn’t seem like the right thing to do, now that we’re done fighting. Besides, it’s a low-level fire charm. It won’t burn out of control.”
“Everything has the opportunity to burn out of control if one does not pay proper respect to the fire gods,” a woman’s voice snapped. “You would do well to remember that . . . Alethea Light.”
Stunned by the use of her name and from an unfamiliar voice no less, Alethea turned around and went stiff. She inhaled a sharp breath then tried to inhale another. Panic and fear overrode her mind. Her entire body started to tremble.
The woman strode forward, tall, her flesh as white as a blank piece of paper. A slender, red line crossed over her nose diagonally. Her hair, almost as white as her flesh, was pulled tight into a braid that draped over her right shoulder.
Thinking of reloading some new material for Portal to Gaming, The King and Queen of Wands, and The Sons of Thor, add some teasers into the mix.
Yeah, definitely going to do that!!
